Characteristics of internalist people according to Rotter:
- Internalist people according to Rotter are dominated by the conviction that they are the ones who control their own actions, their entire agenda of activities, and the consequences of what they do (internal control).
- Tendency to attribute failure to a lack of ability, low intelligence, lack of physical strength or weak will, perseverance, effort, etc.
- Inclination to dominate situations, to not be satisfied with what is presented and to fight to achieve the objectives.
- They tend to control others, are demanding, expeditious and carry more responsibilities.
- They usually achieve better results in what they set out to do.
- They have better health, because they are convinced that many factors depend on them: that is why they take better care of themselves, have their schedules measured and have medical check-ups.

Disadvantages of excessive internal control (internalists):
- Tendency to always attribute failure to lack of ability.
- Wanting to dominate all situations, nonconformity and continuous struggle.
- Tendency to control others and demand too much from them.
- Assuming more responsibility than is appropriate.
- Precipitation.
- Excessive use of offensive strategies.
Virtues that should be fostered by Internalist people according to Rotter:
- Humility. Recognize that we are not capable of everything, that there are external and internal situations that partly condition us. Knowing how to ask for help.
- Abandonment and good humor to counteract hyper-responsibility.
- Friendship and valuing others: team building, counting on others.
- Serenity so as not to fall into activism.
